Sami Hinedi moves in as Acting CEO of Wi-Tribe Pakistan while ex-CEO Mohammad Sadiq is going to return to Qtel while being on the BoD of Wi-Tribe, said an official statement.
Mohammad Sadiq, CEO of wi-tribe Pakistan, is set to return to his post at Qtel after successfully completing his term in launching the operations in Pakistan. The announcement came as Group CEO, Sami Hinedi, revealed that he will be replacing him as Acting CEO.
Mohammad Sadiq will still remain on the Board of wi-tribe Pakistan and will continue to provide overall strategic direction for the company to reinforce its growth within the market. “It is sad to bid farewell to one of the greatest leaders in the tribe, but we rest assured that his expertise and guidance will continue as he remains on the board of directors,” said Hinedi.
As a Group, wi-tribe consciously strives to recruit local talent for each operation in order to ensure local knowledge and expertise is applied at all work levels.
Wi-Tribe Pakistan is the group’s largest market to date, and was launched in July 2009 covering four major regions; Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi.
The CEO’s annual review happened in December. Because the previous CEO did not meet Witribe’s expectations, Witribe is looking for a new CEO for Pakistan. Sami is the group CEO and is just a temporary replacement till Witribe hires a new CEO for Pakistan.
Witribe is a very dysfunctional company with a high turnover. Many employees have left within 6 months of joining the company. There’s a lot of politics which is against the values of a tribe. It is supposed to be a family culture instead of employees conspiring against each other. Witribe is definitely not my tribe :(

wi-tribe has been the only multinational hiring at a national scale while the entire economy was playing a conservative approach, even laying off scores of employees. If you are employed at wi-tribe, you should have a chat with HR and discuss your grievances.

The previous CEO met the targets expected of him. His goal was to launch the company and meet sales targets for 09.
The previous CEO, Sadiq, did not meet Dr. Sami’s expectations. witribe had only 27k subscribers by december 2009 which was only half of target for 2009.

He did certain things without discussing with Sami first. That’s why Sami was not interested in having him continue.
