Mango vs. Apple vs. Desserts (Android)

windows-phone-7-mango-update-microsoftIf you want to know about all the Apple mobiles, here’s a list of the latest Apple mobiles price in Pakistan and their specs.

A new version of an OS is released with some new basic features added and the world rushes in to know what ‘the new stuff’ is. A new phone is released with a bump in specs, with the same previous OS and everyone gets excited about what the future holds.

This is the mantra of the online blogosphere, well at least with the top tech blogs around the world.

What sometimes they fail to realize is that people want choice, more choices translates to more competition in the business circle, which means more convenience and benefit to the consumer.

I am of the view that some blogs out there are trying to sideline some competitors. This will have a negative impact on the consumer and on the market because the consumer’s lack of interest will lead to a decline in the choices they have in the long run.

Let’s take the example of the newly released MeeGo phone the N9. As we here previously stated that Nokia CEO mentioned clearly that MeeGo will be the ‘future disruption’ and we can see this clearly in the phone released.

Touch it with the speakers and the music automatically starts playing through them. Secondly, there are no touch sensitive/virtual buttons. No home, Back & Menu keys, nothing, everything is based on touch & gestures.

If you want to see how the button less interface of the future will look like, this is it. But what the ‘people’ are saying is that MeeGo is DOA (Dead on Arrival).

Let’s focus on the near future, the choice you are soon going to be offered with the updated Microsoft Windows Phone 7 OS.

Here is what this OS can offer you, based on the leaked review & information published by Microsoft.

This is what you will get when you turn on a Windows Phone 7 device for the first time. A complete, integrated experience, out-of-the-box. All of the others have Apps that can perform these takes but look at what you get.

You don’t pay for any of these and you get extreme smoothness and performance as the OS supports all these by itself.

It’s beyond my understanding why all the negative hype? I may have missed some things here and there but just look at this, WP7 is new compared to the competition, it has low market penetration and just two updates so far (NoDo & Mango) still it has managed so much.

So be ready to get more, future aggressive updates and hardware from Nokia.

A complete smartphone experience doesn’t just depend upon the in-built apps but the User Experience, Hardware & Eco System. Microsoft + Nokia have worked to do but the point here is this: “You are the consumer, you have the right to know your choices and remember WP7 is one of them, a strong one.”

  • Well u may be right but the thing that powers android is being open source and feasibility for developers…. and you can see the trends how userbase of android is sky rocketing and others are decreasing….

    • Android growth is due to its open source nature, due to which many hardware companies go for Android. They produce from high end to low end cheaper phones. Thus provide to and attract a large group of people. It does not mean its the best of all in terms of usability, UI and apps.

  • “It’s beyond my understanding why all the negative hype?”

Mostly people hate those “tiles” and no live widgets, internet explorer and above all because its a Micro$oft (aka; evil empire) product?

WP7 in its current is just crap but lets see if Mango delivers.

Its not not everyone who said Meego is dead on arrival its elop himself who said theres no turning back (for nokia) to Meego even if N9 proves to be a huge success.

      .
You are talking about the people here? the ones who are proud of using pirated software, steal from Microsoft and than claim Microsoft is evil.

Stephen Elop teases with Nokia Windows Phone – but N9 will be DOA, analyst says :

The Independent: Nokia’s button-free all-screen N9 smartphone is ‘stunningly beautiful but DOA’

      .
All this was said even before the Elop’s comment about MeeGo. Seriously, why don’t people understand that MeeGo is the future strategy and has nothing to do with the current/near future line of handsets. They will release a phone or two every year just to let the world/geeks know where they are going with the OS while the continue with WP7. Comments like DOA don’t fit because it wasn’t even meant to dominate.

      • “You are talking about the people here? the ones who are proud of using pirated software, steal from Microsoft and than claim Microsoft is evil.”

Nope i was talking about international audience.

Re WP7; i said in its CURRENT state as last time i checked Mango wasn’t released to users.

MeeGo: I believe that was all speculation based on February announcements? And I’ve a proper source to tell that you are wrong about Nokia+MeeGo strategy. Can’t disclose any further information, believe it or not its up to you.

Sorry for late response by the way.

        Peace.

        • Yeah, well you never know what these corporations are going to do… Anyways, if they aren’t cooking up any soup of their own than they are going again for the doomed strategy.

  • Number and quality of apps available for iPhone surpasses all other platforms. UI of iPhone is much more user friendly than every one else. iPhone is born to Apple, which has a complete ecosystem of tech gadgets (from iPod to Macs through iPhone, iPod touch and iPad). after a simple jailbreak, iOS is the most customizable platform of all. You can not only modify UI, But also combat the corporate culture of apps and tweaks on your own terms.Android, which claims to be the champion of openness does not allow installation of modified code. While a jailbroken iPhone allows modified code installation. Even Android has been ported to iPhone 3G.

  • Even if Nokia pulls the plug from Meego, It would be nice to see the fork of the project offering how-tos in running it on the released nokia + MS phones. But somehow I fear hardware spec sheets wont be so open of those phones.
Heck it would be nice to see a meego port for the android based phones. Phones might run even be faster/more responsive since meego more or less is C/C++ based.
Anyway world is faced with other more pressing issues. Nice writing though.

  • People always follow the croud in Pakistan. If I compare three OS, I find apple very very rigid, simpleband boring. I never able to understand y people like iphone? Android is batter option as it is available in many hardwares and a lot of variety for a consumer for using apps, mobiles with different features and brands and also the versions to keep up with the user interest.
But surprisingly, when we use windows phone, we realize that both the previous ones are not that much cool as we see them as the only option. Windows live tiles is such an amazing thing that we get the notifications in just fractions of seconds. Internet explorer is realy a thing that we dont need to think of any other browser. Its a much much better than other two. I rather call it the most stylish OS on mobiles.
The disadvantages are alao there. For example,
1- It is not yet launched in Pakistan officially. We cant sale or purchase it apps in marketplace as Pakistan is not yet included in their list.
2- Nokia maps, HTC locations and bing maps no one has yet given Pakistani maps in their world. We have to keep google maps for our convinience.
3- There also some other minor things like fixed internal memory, no resizable tiles, no unicode etc which will be covered in next version windows 8.
With these little disadvantages, it is really an amazing thing. In my opinion it is the best OS right now. Thanks
