Lars Christian Appointed new CEO of Telenor Pakistan

Telenor Pakistan in a statement today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Mr. Lars Christian Iuel (47) as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Mr. Lars Chistian has previously served Telenor Pakistan as Chief Marketing Officer for three years.

He takes up the position on November 1st, succeeding Mr. Christian Albech (64) who will retire after 20 years of service to Telenor.

Jon Fredrik Baksaas, President and CEO of Telenor Group while announcing the new CEO said:

It is a pleasure to announce that Lars Christian Iuel will return to Telenor Pakistan, a company and a market that he knows well. He has previously served as Chief Marketing Officer of Telenor Pakistan with excellent results.

His in-depth knowledge of the market, combined with his broad telecoms experience and leadership qualities, makes him an ideal candidate to helm our operations in Telenor Pakistan.

Lars Christian Iuel is currently the Head of Marketing at Telenor Group’s Asia office in Bangkok. Prior to that, he worked three years as the CMO of Telenor Pakistan. He has a diverse international background, both from different positions in Telenor and from Cell One in Namibia.

My admiration for Telenor Pakistan, and for the country as a whole, fills me with high expectations and I am very eager to take on the assignment. I know the people of the organization well and I am confident that together we can continue to produce great results.

The Pakistani market is still in its infancy and the prospect for the country and the telecoms industry is startling, said Lars Christian Iuel, appointed CEO of Telenor Pakistan.

Retiring and leaving the company in great shape

Christian Albech has headed Telenor Pakistan for a brief period of seven months. He served Telenor for 20 years and had been going through health issues lately. Before joining Telenor Pakistan, Christian Albech was the CEO of Telenor Broadcast where he successfully headed a broad portfolio of companies such as Canal Digital, Telenor Satellite Broadcasting, Norkring and Conax.
