Here are major highlights of the new iPad:
Better Retina Display:
New iPad has better display, i.e. 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution display, with 3.1 million pixels total spread across the screen – which qualifies as retina display.
Earlier iPad display wasn’t retina equipped.
5 Megapixel Camera:
New iPad will feature a 5-megapixel “iSight” rear camera, which which you will be able to shoot up to 1080p video. Up front will be a VGA quality, 0.3-megapixel “FaceTime” camera for video chats.
iPad 2 had VGA quality front and rear camera. Though rear camera could record 720p videos.
4G LTE:
New iPad will support 4G LTE networks, i.e. higher data transfer rate compatible; which by the way means nothing to Pakistani audience.
A5X processor:
Rumors of a quad core processer proved wrong, instead new iPad features a modified A5 chip paired with quad-core graphics processor to better handle 1080p videos and display. Apple, as usual, didn’t reveal processor’s clockspeed.
No Siri:
But there is voice dictation: Again rumors were laid to rest, no Siri for the new iPad – instead there’s a voice dictation to assist you in number of tasks.
Critiques are calling this nothing revolutionary, except the display and better camera. Those with iPad 2 might be reluctant to upgrade, while those without any iPad will have a better chance to buy iPad 2 at lower price.
