Apple Unveils New iPad

233000200-07104136Apple today announced its new iPad, which is surprisingly called the iPad; no iPad 3 or iPad HD – like they had speculated.

Here are major highlights of the new iPad:

Better Retina Display:

New iPad has better display, i.e. 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution display, with 3.1 million pixels total spread across the screen – which qualifies as retina display.

Earlier iPad display wasn’t retina equipped.

5 Megapixel Camera:

New iPad will feature a 5-megapixel “iSight” rear camera, which which you will be able to shoot up to 1080p video. Up front will be a VGA quality, 0.3-megapixel “FaceTime” camera for video chats.

iPad 2 had VGA quality front and rear camera. Though rear camera could record 720p videos.

New iPad will support 4G LTE networks, i.e. higher data transfer rate compatible; which by the way means nothing to Pakistani audience.

A5X processor:

Rumors of a quad core processer proved wrong, instead new iPad features a modified A5 chip paired with quad-core graphics processor to better handle 1080p videos and display. Apple, as usual, didn’t reveal processor’s clockspeed.

No Siri:

But there is voice dictation: Again rumors were laid to rest, no Siri for the new iPad – instead there’s a voice dictation to assist you in number of tasks.

Critiques are calling this nothing revolutionary, except the display and better camera. Those with iPad 2 might be reluctant to upgrade, while those without any iPad will have a better chance to buy iPad 2 at lower price.

  • I am not sure what you guys had expected. The technology used is significant. Packing all new power hungry radios, delivering high pixel density display (even alot more than Asus tablet WILL ship in Q2), more RAM+Quadcore GPU. All this without having a significant change in dimensions and maintaining the same price point. The high density lithium battery technology itself is a game changer. For a product line only 2yrs old, iPads have come a long way and would continue to dominate the market. Only people familiar with software development can understand how much work has gone into iOS just to match the new retina display. I am sorry guys, apple knows what it is going after. Perhaps it’s wrong to have expectations of something mind blowing from their each product announcement. I am not sure they require revolutionary changes now to keep up their growth pace. Strategically releasing evolutionary changes to successful products should be enough.
Although I argue this is a significant update and certainly not just evolutionary pushes the bar alot higher for upcoming Andriod & Windows8 tablets.

  • The pad was good, but didn’t satisfied the exception of people, or the spectators were expecting something very huge, most of the people found to criticize only like if APPLE was not brand STEVE JOBS was the brand, after Steve jobs the mission and aim of apple remains the same, than why audience is is making so much noise ? by this launch the apple lovers are moving out from using it and addiction is becoming low minute by minute, a research in PAKISTAN was conducted to identify this the result was now people are buying the other brand of tablet PC’s most of them was moving towards APEX a known brand who’s offering much low and economical prices in PAKISTAN, a research over online and traditional shopping in PAKSITAN’s tablet PC’s market showed that people are buying other brands of tablets more than APPLE.
    An study from;
    Apple licensed dealers.

  • I may agree on the research you mentioned, however I do feel its more due to cheap prices of tablets offered by Apex. After all we do live in a country where majority have limited disposable income. There would be greater change if you do a new study after 3-4months since the iPad2 will be cheaper. Many people question the new iPad. I ask them a simple question:
    – What superior alternative do you have Right Now in the market? What killer features do other tablets have? What were you guys disappointed of?!
    – The popularity of android can’t be denied in the smartphone arena, however as far as tablets are concerned they have a long way to go. Heck Windows 8 has a better shot at gaining some marketshare traction than Android tablets.

  • Yeah i think you r absolutely right because we are living in the country where people look for the economical products due to their incomes,as far as huge business personals are concerned they may buy APPLE but what about students ? how could they buy a tablet, so they are moving towards APEX cuz its giving you the very much common features which APPLE posses and in very economical rate.

When i asked a question to the sales officer of that what are the trends of buying TABLETS among students hes clearly said that they first ask the price of APPLE and than features and then they compare it from APEX and then buy, it clearly shows that some how APEX is taking our YOUTH and making demand in them by keeping the prices far economical than APPLE.

  • It is not the matter of supporting the activists or despising them as have been mentioned in the article written by a pseudo expert of IT. The fact of the matter is no type of restriction in the form of ISPs blocking websites or censorship through a national firewall is acceptable. Any form of censorship undermines the freedom of users of internet. It is none of the business of any government what the users chose to see and read. Period. If any of the users among them have problems with some of the content, they must bear with it like many other irritable things in society are borne by the people who dont like those ones.
