Microsoft Outs Lumia 535, a First Without Nokia Branding

As we reported a few weeks ago that Microsoft had plans to let go the Nokia branding for its Lumia devices, today we saw the first Lumia phone with Microsoft’s name on it. The Microsoft Lumia 535.

A mid-range phone that carries a lot of similarities from Lumia 530, the Lumia 535 comes with Microsoft Logo on the front; which marks the first ever phone by the company with its own branding.

The Lumia 535 boosts five inch screen, five megapixel wide-angle front camera for selfies and another five megapixel rear camera.

Aimed for developing markets, the Lumua 535 will come with a single SIM version as well as dual SIM version that will allow two active SIMs for parallel usage. Loaded with Windows 8.1 with Denim update out of the box, Lumia 535 will cost around or less than PKR 14,500.

Beneath the covers, the Lumua 535 sports a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. Internal memory for usage is capped at 8GB with support for additional memory through microSD card with support up to 128 GB. Lumia 535 comes with 15 GBs of free OneDrive storage to store all your photos or documents in the cloud.

Lumia 535 will come in conventional cyan, bright green, bright orange, white, dark grey, and black colors.

With extra covers as a bonus, the Lumia 535 will hit selected markets in couple of weeks. Pakistan can expect this handset to arrive here around mid or end of December 2014.

Again, the Lumia 535 is likely to be priced around 14,500 in Pakistan.

  • don’t like the new branding but MS is introducing an entry levels “selfie” phone, kinda cute but its not good enough to compete with HTC desire Eye..well its not fair to put these two in a ring for a fight.

    • you are comparing HTC desire Eye and this Lumia 535! there is huge difference in price! you cant compare both of these!
but if you compare Lumia 535 with Lumia 630, then Lumia 535 is best

  • I would like to get it as an upgrade for my Lumia 520 only if it is priced below 13,000. Above, 13,000 I can get the Lumia 620 and 630 which have better processors with same specifications. BTW, 480p video recording seems a downgrade

  • Should have Snapdragon 400 because Snapdragon 200 don’t gives 720p recording. Everything else is alright

  • looking perfect phone bcaz of its price and specifications.. but i hate windows mobile os..if it’s price will be around 13000 to 14000 .most people will consider to buy this phone .bcaz of required specifications. really hate windows mobile OS

    • I bet you haven’t even tried it since you don’t even know what it’s called. You should, because it’s much better than either Android or iOS.

      • “much better than either Android or iOS” … cough!!!
that made me laugh, i had tried it :D , its just iOS or Android wanna be.. infact it is so minor that even Google didn’t bother to develop for it

        • How can an OS with a completely different UI and UX be classified as a “wannabe”? Competitor? sure, wannabe? far from it. Google doesn’t develop because it considers WP a competitor. MS developed the YouTube app that was pulled down by Google for not-so-convincing reasons.

      • I have heard one Lumia user saying “I used to use it for msgs and calls only”.. you cant transfer from blue tooth, cannot copying files from device to PC(that it’s not as easy as it’s on Android)…is that true?

        • I would tell that Lumia user to stick to a dumb phone or rather a brick phone with no screen if they couldn’t even figure out such basic stuff.

Let me tell you what the truth is. Windows Phone is the only smartphone OS that comes with a native file explorer. It is fully NTFS filesystem (a Microsoft standard that Android OEMs need to pay for it they want their phones to be recognized when it’s connected to a Windows PC, or else use some dodgy Linux standard like Motorola does with its phones) compatible. In laymans terms, that means that when you connect your phone to your PC, it shows up just like a regular drive. Which means you can just drag and drop stuff unlike iPhones for example where you need to sync everything up through iTunes. You can practically use your phone like a USB. Sharing stuff is as easy as long press, send via Bluetooth or if it’s another Lumia device, then the much cooler, Tap+send. Just tap your phones together and transfer will begin. This works not only for files but for apps too. Found a cool app and want your friend to try it out? Tap and he’ll be taken directly to the apps store page to download the app. Also, another awesome feature exclusive to Windows phones it’s the ability to download apps to SD card. Not just app data while the main app is still executed from internal phone storage, but fully install everything into external memory. This means that even phones with 4gb internal memory like the Lumia 530 with micro SD support up to 128gb, you’ll never run out of space. So yeah, the only people who talk bad about Windows Phones are those who’ve never really used it because those who have know how much better it is than competition.

    • I also use HTC but I love my windows phone and windows phone 8.1 is the perfect operating system for gamers, students and executives as well

  • in this price it is looking pretty nice. only one thing i dislike in it that is it resolution. otherwise it is ok

  • plz help me
mjy btaoo kya es main facebook call ki optin ha ya nokia lumia ki tarha es main b facebook call ki optin nai ha……..?

  • I have been using Nokia 1320 with upgraded Win 8.1 and I must say that its the best phone I have used ever. Previously I was using Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I sold it and bought Nokia 1320 brand new. People you must try this. You won’t regret it. Its speed, apps, interface. The fact that Office 365, Skype, Health, Travel, Food apps builtin. Health app has digital doctor which diagnose your problems in seconds and suggest you treatments. Way ahead of Lagroid and IOS. I love Cortana digital assistant. You need to upgrade it to Win 8.1 otherwise just regular old Win 8 is shit. WP is an excellent phone.
