Smartphones We Are Looking Forward To In 2015

The pace at which technology is evolving, especially in consumer products, is astonishing. With 2014 in the past, the anticipation for what is next in consumer tech is high. CES 2015 will be held in Las Vegas in a couple of days from now and many consumer tech rumors will either prove to be true or will be put to rest.

Here we look at what the future might hold for one of the most evolving consumer tech product, the smartphone. If not revealed at CES 2015, expect a good number of these to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2015. This is a list of 5 phones that we are really looking forward to.

HTC One (M9/HIMA)

htc m9, htc hima

The next HTC One model, if HTC keeps in line with the series naming, will be the M9. The M8 was greatly appreciated for its sleek aluminum body and the word is that the M9 will also be on the same lines when it comes to design.

One of the leaks regarding the new phone in the HTC One series describe its dimensions slightly larger than its predecessor. The phone will probably have some sort of water proofing as well to compete with Sony and Samsung, its major competitors.

The HTC M9 is expected to retain all the qualities of the HTC One M8 and make it even better

If the word on the internet is to be believed, we would probably be looking at a QHD display i.e., 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. This would a battery drainer but HTC is known to take the plunge and has always managed to do really well in this department. The processor would most probably be an Octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm’s latest and greatest offering. Though there isn’t much news about battery, it is believed to be around 2840mAh.

Something that we are sure about is that the new HTC One will launch with Android 5.0 and a refreshed version of Sense. With Beats joining hands with Apple, another surety is HTC pairing up with Bose for the speakers as HTC with its previous models has shown how serious they are about audio quality on their devices. Expect huge advancements in phone optics; there could be a 20.7MP sensor for the camera.

LG G4

LG’s earnings over the course of the last two years have gone up by almost 112% thanks to a major role played by their smartphone sales.

We expect an awesome 2K bezel free screen, meaning G4 will have an edge to edge display. As far as the processing power is concerned we are pretty sure that G4 would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip and 4GB of RAM. LG is also expected to go full metal unibody route with waterproofing. Again with the higher resolution the battery is also expected to be more powerful. If the camera is an improvement on the one in G3, this would be a phone we would love to really get our hands on.

Samsung Galaxy S6

This powerhouse of a smartphone is also rumored to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. S6’s pictures have been leaked on the net under the codename “Project Zero”; the project name under which Samsung is putting together the S6.

Just like LG G3, news is S6 would also have a 2560 x 1440p QHD double edged display. The secrecy around the S6 and its project name do indicate that Samsung might be developing its latest flagship device with a totally new vision and set of ideas and might go for a couple of industry firsts.

Samsung is expected to go with premium materials and industry-first tech for the Galaxy S6

The bezels are expected to be further streamlined, slim with more rounded corners. An important factor affecting the design for S6 would be lower than expected sales for S5, hence Samsung would probably be going for premium materials for its body.  Sources in Samsung’s supply chain have hinted at a premium metal design body for the S6. Coming to the OS though there has been much talk about Tizen but Samsung will probably be sticking to Android.

Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra

According to reports on the net, Sony is going to unveil Xperia Z4 at CES 2015. If you take a look at the concept designs/leaked designs of the phone on the net, it looks pretty simple but the beauty lies at the back. Xperia Z4 is rumored to have 22 or 24 megapixels, with Sony Lens G, 10x optical zoom and a Xenon flash, much like it’s fabulous Cybershot digital cameras series.

The concept images feature two front stereo speakers and the phone is almost bezel free. Z4 is rumored to have a 5.4-inch quad HD Triluminos display, Snapdragon 805 or 810processor paired with 4 GB RAM, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, 3.2-megapixel front-facing shooter; and 3300 mAh battery. There are also reports of the phone being launched with another Xperia model, the Z4 compact.

With upgraded internals and the same sensor as Cybershot digital cameras, the Z4 Ultra is expected to make a splash

As with all our lists please do let us know in the comments section about the smartphones you are looking forward to the most this year. We will be updating this article as the official specifications of the smartphones get confirmed at CES 2015 and MWC later on.

    • Sir,
I am not a fan of Iphone. It is really fancy to have “CORES”.

Look bro i have OCTA CORE !!! Yeahhhh… it feels good. blah blah But have we ever thought what other good thing these cores do if the software works equally good with less cores ?

      • The answer lies in few years back intel processors race with Cores… the hardware is invented first and softwares are developed later accordingly…now look at latest softwares and 3D games which were developed for high end devices…not in reverse phase…

    • But unfortunately android is still behind due to its lag issue
Iphone’s dual core can easily beat the octa core and btw it’s not about iPhone and android. iphone is far better than android

      • Android is mostly blamed for lags but i m using 1.3 quad core with 1 Gb of RAM KitKat and lags are observed rarely as compared to claimed by iphone lovers… i feel smooth all the time and these flagships are way better now… Android dominates the market..it was not possible without Performance… iPhones are Fancy but Power is in Androids…

            • Lags are one thing. Battery is second thing. Even the back cover gets hot in case of android. We already have enough cores. We need to work on the battery side and efficiency of the cores.

              • Ha ha ha… but sales figures tells a different story.. also if there r lags. They are with low end devices with older versions. Higher end devices with latest version are matchless now. Also compare the price range of iphones.. androids with same price range are way better than iphones… compare some common level devices ( price/ performance) :p

                • iPhone 5s already beat the htc one m8
Check out the specifications of both smartphone. It’s not about cores and ram iPhone’s dual core processor and 1 gb ram is enough for those tasks which Android’s 2.5 ghz processor and 2gb ram can’t complete and lag too much.
Android is common o.s which easily found in 6k phone but IOS is only found in iPhones. That is showing the reputation and class of the iPhone and class is always demand for money. For those who can not afford the iPhone those people will start comparison or in other words khud ko lollipop dena ye samajh k, k hamara 11k ka Android iPhone se acha hai

                    • Ji tusi jit gay…jao ja k bhangry pao…. ty socho k Android market share vs apple market share ki cheez ay… :)

                    • Paa ji ye to ap bhi jante ho k Apple Inc. sirf high class k liye products design karta hai middle and lower class se Apple Inc. ka wasta he nhn, Android teeno class pe dheyan deta hai mid and lower class k phone ka malum nhn but high class mein Android kabhi bhi Apple Inc. ko beat nhn kar sake ga
                      Cheers

  • I wish, there is a shop in Saddar or Jilani etc. where I go and order an Smartphone to BUILD with my specific configurations like a PC !!!
any one can see Dreams ….

    • That’s actually Project Ara which Google has been working on for the last 2 years. google it and you will know.

      • oh really? so, we have to wait for Dreams Comes True …. :)
        thanks very much for update.

    • This concept is under process but it would be done over online. Also OS of smartphones are not flexible enough to work with different specs because each device has its own ROM to be built and features support etc. Let’s hope
