Telenor Deploys Cutting Edge Technology at Safa Gold Mall for Seamless 3G Experience

Telenor has deployed the award-winning LampSite solution to provide seamless indoor mobile broadband / 3G experience to its customers in Safa Gold Mall in Islamabad. The inauguration of state-of-the-art technology was marked by setting up an experience center in the mall by Telenor Pakistan for its customers today.

It is pertinent to note that Huawei Lamp Site solution won the Best Mobile Infrastructure award in the Mobile Technology category at GSMA Global Mobile Awards held recently in Barcelona, Spain. The solution is designed to be more scalable, flexible, as well as easier to deploy and manage, compared to traditional distributed antenna system (DAS) solutions.

Expressing his delight, Michael Foley, Chief Executive Officer, Telenor Pakistan said,

“We have always been at the forefront of offering cutting edge technology and next generation solutions to our valued customers. Deployment of this solution is yet another testament of Telenor Pakistan’s customer centric approach to provide services as per the evolving customer preferences and building an ecosystem to facilitate 3G uptake.

Considering the fact that most of the data traffic is generated indoors; especially in office buildings and shopping malls where the deployment environment creates complex challenges, this innovative solution will address indoor network coverage issues and provide high performance mobile broadband user experience.”

On this occasion, Khurrum Ashfaque, Chief Technology Officer, Telenor Pakistan said:

“Telenor Pakistan is actively working with all of its partner vendors to explore efficient and cost effective solutions for indoor data coverage, including the launch of home-office femto cell solutions, campus solutions and wireless repeaters. The deployment at Safa mall is the first in a series of such projects to be completed in the next couple of months.”

During the inauguration ceremony, Telenor Pakistan’s employees received feedback from customers about their experience with the newly deployed technology. Besides Telenor Pakistan’s top management, Aragon Meng, CEO, Huawei Pakistan also attended the event.

  • Dear Admin,

Just to keep you update, ZONG was the first operator to deploy Huawei’s Lamsite immediately after getting 3G licence. Also we were the first to on air ALU Femto Cells, even before the launch of Spider Cells by Warid.

    • Well…..the fact of the matter is that the deployment of Lampsite by ZONG was basically just a couple of units installed only in ZONG’s CEO office, which is more like a limited trial deployment !
Where as lampsite deployment by TELENOR in Safa Gold Mall is by far the largest commercial deployment of Lampsite in Pakistan, covering all the 11 floors using 50+ lampsite units. This will benefit all TELENOR subscribers visiting the mall.

    • If I remeber correctly Zong had only installed the Lampsite in their own cafeteria for their internal use.Telenor seems the first one to install the lampsite in a commercial environment for public users.

    • Please contact with me , We had deplly Spidercloud Small cell for Warid now a day working with jazz.

    • A ufone user detected.

Man telenor is the only network which I have tested every part of Sahiwal to Lahore with download speeds of nearly 1MB/s.

  • Michael Foley is a beautiful person. He in picture is in our national dress. But all Pakistanis are in 3 piece. Thats why they are more advanced than us. We are only standing between ‘Urdu’ and ‘English’. Gora ban’nay k chakar mei ham apnay aap ko bhool chukay hain. Plz think about it.

  • Excellent initiative by Telenor. The way Telenor has progressed in 3G is tremendous.3G users of Telenor have crossed 3.1 million which shows their professional commitment and expertise.Company has used its 5Mhz band effectively by using technical expertise of infrastructure upgradation.Well done Telenor.
