Telenor Pakistan is reportedly testing a new service that — when rolled out for general public — will enable Easypaisa mobile account holders to make payments wirelessly through NFC compatible phones.
Our sources tell that service is in alpha phase and selected company employees have been authorized to use the service. Few outlets around Telenor’s F-11 Office in Islamabad are also given NFC enabled merchant accounts where they charge Telenor employees through NFC.
For those who aren’t familiar, NFC or Near Field Communication enables smartphones or other NFC enabled devices are to be brought together — just like tapping them with each other — to trigger a data transfer which can involve financial transactions or any kind of transaction for that matter.
Telenor’s NFC payments will involve similar kind of methodology. Buyer (with NFC enabled phone) will have to tap his/her phone with merchant’s smartphone (or NFC enabled payment booths) to pay for goods.
Upon tapping the phone, a message will pop up on buyers’ phone asking for confirmation about the amount they are about to pay to the merchant. Once the confirmation is made, the specified amount from buyers’ easypaisa account will be transferred to merchant.
As mentioned above, the service is currently available with Telenor employees only and we don’t have any word on when this NFC payment solution from Telenor will be made available to general public.
Entering into new era of mobile payments. Great work by Telenor Easypaisa team.

Say bismillah before tapping your phone and god will bless the transaction.

You people need entertainment don’t you? whether someone is making fun of Islam
Starting a sin with the name of ALLAH (Nauzubillah)
Yeah, as long as the money in bank account being used is halal :-)
It this stag we only need Online Payment Geteway
Great but they need to fix the web based interface to easy paisa, sign up merchants and increase the pathetically low account limits.
That involves security risks…people will misuse it due to which it has limits else it is no rocket science to raise them…
So what? Everyone else can offer web login, what is Easypasia’s problem? Do they have specail requrements?
I used Easypaisa web login before the halted it. It has been OVER THREE YEARS since it worked. You would think that they would spend some time and money to get the web login working again in THREE YEARS.
Might be…they also closed web login for post paid I was using for even more years… :)
Wow .. Pakistan is changing !!
Acha to hy but….NFC wala phone kaha sy aay ga…abhi to 3G py shift huay hain..:/
U dont need NFC wala phone. That is a sticker with chip. All u have to do is to place it on ur phone. Works wid Nokia 1100 too ;)
Thx dude… actually i never read about it… if it is introduced. I’ll look into it…
Well, I must say Telenor really knows how to remain one step ahead of others.
Yes, except their easypaisa web portal has been down for 3+ years.
and member’s area as well.
Kamal ki baat tou aaj kal yeh hai k jin logoo ney Haram ka paisa kamaya hota hai, woh bhi usay “Islamic Banking” mein rakhna chahtay hain, ta k Sood (Usury) another Haram) sey bachay rahain……..
