Mobile phone services and wireless internet services (EVO and WiMAX services) in Islamabad and Rawalpindi were suspended early morning today as full dress rehearsals for Pakistan Day parade are under way, we have checked with authorities.
According to details, mobile phone services are likely to remain offline till afternoon (3:00 PM) in the twin cities as full dress rehearsal at the Parade Venue is being carried out.
It must be noted that Islamabad Police had also issued special traffic plan for commuters in the city to make sure that rehearsals and usual movement of commuters aren’t disturbed.
Pakistan Day Parade on March 23rd holds a significant place in the history of Pakistan and to mark this day in a befitting manner, Armed Forces Pakistan Day Parade will be held on the occasion.
After today’s service closure, it is certain that cellular services will remain offline on March 23rd as well.
Mobile phone consumers are advised to use alternate way of communications — such as WhatsApp, Facebook etc. — during this down time.
