Jehan Ara, Founder of The Nest I/O and [email protected], Pakistani trade body for IT companies, has been personally invited by US President Barrack Obama to deliver a lecture at Stanford University for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2016 (GES).
She will be participating as a speaker for the ‘Investing in South Asia: What’s next for Entrepreneruship in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh’ panel, alongside her South Asian counterparts.
Jehan Ara has been working tirelessly to further the cause of Pakistan’s IT sector since 1992. She heads The Nest I/O, the tech incubator birthed by [email protected] that provides infrastructure, space, knowledge and facilities for Pakistani startups.
Some of the issues that she has taken up in recent times include those concerning Cyber Crime, privacy, data protection legislation in the Pakistani context. She’s also part of Bolo Bhi, calling for research-backed advocacy for Pakistan’s tech issues.
She serves as the president for the Pakistani IT industry association [email protected] and also on the ‘Women’s Virtual Network’, an initiative that aims to connect educated women with a network of mentors, employers and peers remotely.
