Samsung Launches the 4G-Capable Galaxy J1 2016 in Pakistan

Samsung silently revealed its 2016’s entry level Galaxy J1 smartphone in January. The company is now releasing the phone in Pakistani market. Though the new iteration definitely comes with some improvements however, the price reduction compromises cannot be ignored either.

Features of Samsung J1 2016

To start off, the screen size has been increased to 4.5 inches, up from 4.3 in last year’s model. Resolution remains the same at 800×480. With the screen size, the pixel density dropped a bit. However, Samsung is now using a Super AMOLED panel in the J1, making up for the lack of pixels with improved contrast and saturated colors.

Not much different from the rest of the Galaxy J family, the J1 retains a similar plain plastic build. The only design change comes in the shape of the front glass, which no longer covers the whole façade.

Samsung’s own Exynos processor powers the device along with 1GB of RAM. It’s an upgrade over the predecessor J1 devices which came with either 512MB or 768MB of RAM. The built-in storage has been doubled to 8GB, still maintaining support for microSD cards.

Cameras remain the same. It can shoot at 5MP via the rear camera and 2MP when using the front camera. Battery has been increased to 2,050 mAh battery.

Along with the release, Samsung has teamed up with Zong to provide 6 months of free 4G internet to all buyers. The phone will be of the DUOS (Dual SIM) variety. Samsung promises free Accidental Coverage for the J1 (2016) model as well.

Galaxy J1 (2016) is priced at Rs. 16,999 and will come in Black, White and Gold color options.

  • this is a horrible phone … if this was on a free giveaway i would not take it.
    pathetic hardware !

      • Zero 3 is good. the Helio X10 really works well . initial impressions are good from people who have bought it. Don’t have too much info on cam quality but 6p Largan Lens setup should guarantee above ordinary photo quality.the only thing i hate about it is the overall visuals , it looks way too generic and ugly to hold such rich hardware.

if you can find a review (i think phoneworld did one … maybe) be sure to check it out.
