Man Arrested for Posting Blasphemous Content on Social Media

Sheikhupura police yesterday arrested an individual for allegedly posting blasphemous text on a social media website, reported Dawn News.

While the contents are unknown, as the account has been dormant for eight months now, the police is saying that they received a complaint from residents of Nabipura against a suspect who is in their custody now.

District Police Office (DPO) Sheikhpura, while speaking with the paper, said that initial investigations have revealed that original message was posted by another man who is currently living abroad.

However, the complaint was against the man they have arrested. “No complaint was filed against the man living abroad”, DPO was quoted as saying.

Police also maintained that the social media account in question has been inactive for at least eight months. Police is still in process of investigating the case.
