Have you ever wondered how to make the most out of your vacations? Have you ever tried to learn something on your own being an IT student/ Developer?
Here’s one of the sources available worth spending the vacations for life time learning. Most importantly, your learning isn’t limited to offerings from Microsoft. Microsoft Virtual Academy provides tons of quality video trainings on plethora of technologies from Open Source to Proprietary.
Microsoft Virtual Academy is a free website owned and managed by Microsoft that contains video courses from Microsoft technology experts for students, faculty, startups, Data Pros and IT Pros. You can have courses there all the way from fundamentals of programming to enterprise security and data scientists.
There is a wide range of courses available which are tailor made for students of all semesters and fields of study who want to learn coding or want to master the skills. Learn to code is a segment for people who are starting to learn programming. It contains programming fundamentals, Game Development series, JavaScript, C# and many more for absolute beginners.
Mobile and Web developers can explore a wide range of app & mobile development training courses from C# and XAML to cross platform apps with Xamarin. Plus, you can learn open source tools and technologies like AngularJS and Bootstrap along with techniques to build responsive, reliable web applications. Similarly, if you are into games, you can learn game development tools such as Construct2, Game Maker and Unity to develop 2D and 3D games for both beginners and advanced skill levels.
MVA is not just confined to one-way video course, you can also interact and get your questions answered by instructors and peers. You can download the course contents and labs. Every learner is made to go through an assessment test on completion of each segment of a video. On completion of every course, points (based upon the course you took) are added to your dashboard. A leaderboard is maintained where you can see your ranging w.r.t world or your country. Make the most out of this amazing Microsoft opportunity and make learning fun this summer.

Hi sheryar, not all courses are necessarily old. for ex. below course (Dev/test in the cloud) was posted just a month ago.

There are few courses that are older than a year but again, what update do you expect in ‘C# fundamentals for absolute beginners) ?
Quick question: can I get certificate after each course completion?
Quick answer: no.
Quick response: Good!
harsh :/
Hi Rehan,
1. You do get certificate against each course you complete on MVA.
2. If you are talking about Microsoft certifications (MCP/ MTA/ MOS etc.), there are courses that you can use as to prepare for Microsoft certification but to earn a proper certification you’ll have to go through test at testing center.
for example, below course prepares you for Exam 70-486 ( Developing asp.net MVC web applications)

Thanks buddy! you are right there are some very useful courses as well. thumbs up for pro Pakistani.
you will not throw out a gem because it is antique … please do not raise this type of points, learn the courses if you want to build your bases else please at least appreciate someone’s struggle, they are not charging and here in our cities if someone want to learn only MS Office like things he/she have to pay some amount and go to the tuition center.
