The bulk of Pakistani motorists comprise of motorbike owners. Keeping them well-maintained and running is of primary importance to the owners.
Pakistani bike owners can now look forward to an Android app that can help them do just that.
We take a look at the pros and cons of the Power Motorcycle app, and how other automobile companies in Pakistan can take inspiration from this app to serve the needs of the Pakistani motorist.
Presenting Power Motorcycle App
Power Motorcycle is an Android app made by an “industry expert” for finding parts/maintaining your motorcycle. It is currently available for motorbikes made by Power.
The app is pretty simple and straight forward and shows options for maintenance, available bike models for purchase etc.
Some options are available from the get go like available models, find spare parts, find service center, find dealer, trade buy/sell and downloads.
Signing up/logging in
Other options are limited to registered users only for which you will need to login from the option on the bottom right corner. It will also let you sign up from the app directly.
We do hope that the developer of the app is keeping this data secure and not selling it to third-parties.
The Available Models option shows details about the bike models available but only shows them for the Power Motorcycles not for Honda or Yamaha or other companies. That said the specifications mentioned about the bike are well detailed.
“Find” Options are All the Same
The Find Dealer, Find Spare Parts and Find Service Center options are all exactly the same. They just ask you to choose the bike model, the year and the city from drop down menus. Once you choose your options it then lists service centres/dealerships or spare part buying locations. All results are displayed the same way.
Major Cities are Missing in the app
The app however does not list some major cities like Karachi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Quetta. This is a major drawback for the app. That said the maintenance option available on the app is something that will be very useful for timely maintenance of your ride.
It shows options for last engine oil change, last tuning, last service, last air filter changed and for other minor options like battery water and brake shoe change.
Features that Don’t Work
The news/announcements options does not seem to work and only prompts a message that says “coming soon”. The trade buy/sell option does not seem to work either though. It asks you to select a city and post an ad. When you select a city and search for possible ads you get an empty page. Checking for Lahore, Bahawalnagar, Multan and Faisalabad revealed empty pages only.
We can only guess that the developer needs to fix some kinks from the app.
This drawback coupled with the limited availability of major cities like Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Karachi and Quetta may be a deal breaker for many. It also only has options for their own bikes only with no options for major companies like Honda or Yamaha. This will also mean a small number of people will be able to use it.
On a good note, this is a helpful app for bike owners and we would like to see other companies like Honda, Suzuki, Toyota and more make an app like this for their own vehicles as well.
You can try out Power Motorcycle for Android on Google Playstore.
