Blueprint, Facebook’s online learning platform, has added new courses for Journalism.
The courses mainly focus on three core elements of journalism; finding stories, creating content and building an audience. Enrolling yourself into the courses is as easy as a few clicks. You are then asked for permission to link your account with Exceed LMS, a learning management system that powers Blueprint.
The first course is designed to teach you how to look for and discover newsworthy content. The course will also provide ideas on how to engage with your audience in a better way. Once you start the course, you are then presented 7 sections. each showing how to better utilize Facebook and Instagram for improving online journalism. These are:
- Getting Started
- Discover Content
- Tell Your Story
- Broadcast Live Videos
- Engage and Grow Your Audience
- Stay Safe
- Connect with Facebook
All of these take around 4-5 minutes to complete and are good for those who are just entering the field of online journalism.
This is just the first course, while the second and third course also offer similar sections divided in different categories focused on respective journalism aspects and more advanced than the first one.
The second course is for engaging with the audience through Facebook Live. It shows you how to create better live broadcasts and best practices for using the service.
The third course is about creating the content itself and also contains a guide about Facebook’s instant articles and how to optimize your stories for them.
For now there is no certification available for these courses and users are free to enroll in any of the courses.
Other Courses and Certifications
Other courses, aside from journalism, are also available on Facebook Blueprint. These include digital marketing professional, planning professional and buying professional. These exams are not free of cost though, and cost $150 billed in your local currency.
