The PIA aircraft ATR 42-500, on flight PK 661 crashed yesterday in Chitral resulting in the deaths of all 47 passengers on board.
The cause of the crash was determined to be engine failure which also caused structural damage. This led to the plane stalling straight to the ground instead of gliding to a safe spot.

PIA’s Compensation
The expenses were agreed upon by the Chairman PIA and the CEO Bernd Hilderbrand. The money will be given to them to meet their funeral expenses.
District managers of the PIA have been instructed to personally visit the residences of each of the 47 passengers and hand over the amount to them in cash. A comprehensive compensation package will be announced later, according to the press release.
Deceased on Board the Plane
Junaid Jamshed was on board the plane as well with his wife Naheed Jamshed. He became one of the most famous pop singers in Pakistan back in the 80’s. In 2005 he started to preach the teachings of Islam with Maulana Tariq Jameel. He was returning from a Tableegh session from Chitral on the plane.
Osama Ahmad Warraich, DC Chitral, was also on board that plane with his wife and daughter. More people like Osama Ahmed and Junaid Jamshed were on board the plane.
ONE Life = 5 LAC
^ to meet funeral expenses
Chairman PIA and the CEO Bernd Hilderbrand = 10 LAC ???
Bloody hell, is that all a human life is worth to PIA? It should not have been less than 5 million per person. And how the hell did the chairman know that it was not pilot or machine error a day into the crash? For such a statement to be made it takes days if not weeks of investigation. Careless and callous, also quite pathetic, of the chairman.
They have only given it for covering funeral expenses,
A comprehensive compensation package will be given later.
