LG Fails to Impress with its Budget X300

LG has introduced a new phone in its mid-range line-up. The new X300 comes with a fairly average display, good connectivity and Android 7.0 Nougat.

The LCD display on the front is 5-inches in size and has a 720p resolution, accompanied by a 5 MP front camera. The design feels like it could be plastic but at least there’s a fingerprint scanner at the back, along with a 13 megapixel main camera with flash. The camera also includes some special software such as Gesture Shot and Auto Shot.

The X300 weighs 142 grams and is 8mm thick. The processor underneath is the mid-range Snapdragon 425 with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal memory. It houses a microSD card slot for expandable memory. The connectivity is well-covered with NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE and GPS but no Type-C.

The battery on the back is a small-ish 2,500 mAh, but hopefully the software is well customized to offer a longer life. The LG X300 will be released in either Dark Blue or Silver and is available for $220.

That puts the phone squarely with some tough competition but maybe LG’s name and 7.0 Nougat will make up for it.
