Vested Interest Holders will not be Tolerated at TIP: Anusha Rehman

Minister of State for IT & Telecom Mrs. Anusha Rehman has said that the vested interest elements creating hindrances in the implementation of TIP Board decisions will not be tolerated at any cost and all necessary corrective measures will be taken to streamline the TIP affairs.

She stated this while chairing 189th Board of Directors meeting of Telephone Industries of Pakistan (TIP) which held here in Islamabad today.

Federal Secretary IT Mr. Rizwan Bashir Khan, MD T.I.P Syed Khalid Gardezi, Member Telecom Mr. Mudassar Hussain, Member Legal Ms. Ameena Sohail, Member HR Mr. Tahir Mushtaq and other Board Members were also present in the meeting.

The MD TIP shared the internal audit report of yester years with the board and also apprised that 10 years special audit of TIP accounts is in progress but unfortunately few mafias amongst local TIP management are creating impediments in audit process and not ready to cooperate with the auditors. Moreover, they are also reluctant to provide relevant record to the auditors and hinder the work by resorting to abuse of process of law.

Anusha Rehman categorically stated that any violation and non-compliance to board decisions will not be tolerated and all such mafias will be dealt severely in accordance with law.

The M.D TIP also informed the board that six officials including Company’s Secretary who were held responsible for wrongdoings in TIP were arrested and proceeded against by the NAB and all of them have been suspended. MD TIP further apprised the board that dossiers for all these delinquent officers are being prepared for necessary disciplinary actions as required.

MD TIP assured the board that directions of the honourable board will be complied with in true letter and spirit.


  • Can anyone please explain what on the earth this “TIP” doing except making near to Obsolete Telephone Handsets?

      • It is bulldog right now. But this is because of ruling parties and some how ex-employee who looted TIP. I visited so many time this factory. It was manufacturing

        1. Telephone handset of different types.
        2. Teleprinters of different categories and export to other countries.
        2. EWSD exchange’s modules like, DLU, SLMACOS,SLAM-CMR, LTG-B,LTG-C and repairing of these modules support was also there. Skill man power under supervision of German experts were fully operational.
        4. Racks of hardware
        5. Design work by local staff.
        6. Some other manufacturing work was also in TIP.
        7. Well established hostel/colony covering huge mileage of area.
        TIP and Telecom staff college was symbol identity of Haripure and due to these two entities, people of these area became much educated and according to a survey, after Karachi, Haripure was on second number on stage of education.

        I spent two in staff college for training purpose and have golden era there.

  • They (the Government) sold CTI to Siemens. End of story and now this is a ghost building..and CTI was high tech – Analog, Digital, MPDR Radar, fine line PCBs, Optical fibre systems, Microwave systems…cutting edge stuff! I hear that the expensive Surface Mount equipment and Automated testing systems have been sold as scrap..Damn…

    TIP was already dead by the time I left CTI in 1990, what on earth is it doing still?

    It was an amazing company in its prime. Great people…
