Mangla and Tarbela Dams To Reach Dead Level By Tomorrow

A report has stated that the water level in the two biggest dams of the country, Tarbela and Mangla, will reach their dead level in the next thirty-six hours. Dead level refers to the water level that has dropped to dangerously low levels.

This is because the surrounding areas where these dams are situated have not received much rain in the winter season when the water is stored in the reservoirs of these dams.

Tarbela is apparently only 5 five feet away from reaching its dead level while Mangla is 10 feet away.

Lack of rainfall in the area due to climatic changes is not the only reason for the new low levels of water storage in the two dams but also due to the wastage of 12 million acre-feet of water which is equal to the capacity of two big dams. This was only in the year 2016-2017.

Due to this, water scarcity has also been recorded at 19pc in the Rabi season.

Amidst this water crisis, IRSA (Indus River System Authority) has also decided to release 28,000 cusecs of water in Punjab and Sindh on Thursday to help the provinces with the farming. These two provinces are also in danger during the Kharif season when it comes to availability of water.

This also means that during Kharif season the crops will most likely be hit by canal water shortage. At this point in time, no committee has any solution to this emergency as yet.

The amount of water being released now is less than earlier though, by about 4000 cusecs.

There is also news that storage capacity of the two dams has been reduced significantly – Tarbela Dam is 30,000 acre-feet smaller while Mangla is 40,000 acre-feet smaller.

Experts say that the ongoing water crisis is also as a result of not taking a decision for Kalabagh Dam which if built would greatly help crop yields in the region.

Kalabagh is a must have for Pakistan survival. Kpk and sind provinces need to change there stance on this. Not making kalabagh already cost too much to pakistan. 2010 without kalabagh نوشہرہ city drowned this is How Allah respond. And my childhood past listening that if Punjab will make kalabagh نوشہرہ will be drowned after functioning of the dam. Now no one tell them so what now you are drowned from kabal river side :)

  • sheryar

No no dont build more damns
Instead blame India for everything like the morons we all are

    • Patriot

Well, well, Sheryar are you sure your name is really that. . or perhaps its not Jaffar . . . Mir Jaffar!
Another Modi social media team infiltrator in our in the midst, trying to mislead ProPakistani readers.
Mr. Indian Sheryar (which is why you do not know how to spell your own name, which is Sheheryaar, as per the Urdu pronunciation — not Hindi of course, which would be as you spelt it), you are already aware, but why don’t you tell our readers that the IRSA director was caught red-handed as a colluder RAW agent?
So YOU MORON Indian Agent, IRSA gave up Pakistan’s right to water management BECUASE of a director who was Indian Agent and Kalabagh became an issue during Musharraf time because of Indian agents sitting in our national assembly, two of these people have been caught red-handed taking money from RAW based in Afghanistan’s Indian consulates in Kandahar.
So yes, we WILL blame India, because it is the truth, however you are right, we should start with our own internal purge, from people like you and your social media buddies sitting in Noida, or Bengaluru and trying to pass comments on Pakistani sites like these to mislead the Pakistani people — but don’t worry where there is dozens of you, there is one of us on your back. . .and one of us is enough for ten of you, nay even hundred. And we will prevail over you. Allah Wills it.
Then we should start hanging the traitors in assemblies, media and then in bureaucracy.
Once Pakistan is really Pak — you should prepare yourselves, we will come after your country. It is not if, but when, so get ready for River Attock battle.
If you don’t know what I am talking about read.

  • Yasir Mahmood

We pakistani can die of hunger because of Water reaching to Dead Levels.

But we cannot Build KALABAGH for false fears.

    • ZAB

Not false fear, there’s already unjust in water distribution with small provinces. So their fear is genuine.

      • Talal

what unjust are you talking about dumb f**king r*tard? Do you know how many 1000 trillion gallons of Sindh river water falls into the Arabian sea and gets wasted every year? If we could have stored that with dams, we could have irrigated the barrens lands and made the country a real agricultural hub. We could have produced thousands of mega watts of electricity with it. But as long as people like you are there dams like Kalabagh will not be built. we need to get rid of people like you.

Ahh old “Airhead” is back with a vengeance!
Always find it amusing how you create an illusion of intelligence with your peanut sized brain. I must say its an art you have mastered with much practice.
So let me clarify for you, because before calling others retards, you should have a look at yourself . . but then an “Airhead” would not know would he?
Love how your comments on ProPakistani are all rather intellectual “sounding”, but when you dissect them, in reality they are nothing but stupidity- defined. Courtesy “Airhead”
As always, let me break down your argument for you in bit sizes that your tiny follicle upstairs can comprehend, as I know I have to do for Airheads with an IQ of 50 or less. And I know its natural for you to blurt out whatever comes to your mouth due to lack of advanced motor skills which cannot control that organ in the mouth called tongue, before processing it in the tiny grey space in between the two ears.
Its okay my dear goldfish, its okay, we understand your pain.
ZAB is talking about the water distribution upriver so he is saying that if 1 trillion cusecs are used, these are unevenly divided, and not as per the requirements of the farmers of each of the provinces — Punjab gets a lot more than they require while farmers in smaller provinces do not get their share.
This has nothing to do with the water dropping in the Arabian Sea/Indian Ocean, which is the balance left over after EVERYONE has used it in Pakistan.
If anything that is probably a lot of the water wasted by Punjab after use which is being dumped, when it could not be utilized by the smaller provinces — so actually your own arguments proves ZAB’s point.
Oh does that make you angry, little airhead goldfish? No, no, no little one, don’t fret, its okay. Everything will be fine.

          • Talal

Do you know who makes most noises against Kalabagh dam? It’s the people party (ppp of har*mi bhutto who is still alive in Sindh) waderas who owns almost all the agricultural lands in interior sindh and poor haris work on their fields almost like slaves.

Indus river has got enough water to fulfill all the agricultural needs of those pathetic
waderas and remaining water just goes wasted by falling into Sea.

These waderas are paid by indian govt to always oppose the decision of making Kalabagh dam.

Is qaum main tere jese “patriot dall ey” boht hain jo paise ki khatir apni ma an b ehn ko bech dete hain.

        • ZAB

If people like me won’t be there, u couldn’t have born yet and abusing people. What do you know about current distribution of water in provinces? Forget how much water is going wasted, first tell is the current distribution going accordingly n rightly?

          • Talal

perfectly. everbody getting fair share except paid politicians sitting on your head.

            • ZAB

No, wrong. You are just supporting your masters blindly because u r getting more than enough share so for you everything is going perfectly. But things are not perfect, if you come outa ur lala land you’ll get to know. Otherwise all is well.

      • Patriot

ZAB (Zulfikat Ali Bhutto) I presume? The selfish, delusional, psychopath who divided Pakistan with “Yahan Hum, Wahan Tum?!” and even though he is called Father of Democracy could not accept a democratic decision to hand-over power to the party that got majority votes in elections, so was a munafiq, drunkyar, selfish person — but I will not say traitor because . . admittedly he did give us our nuclear program, and brought Dr. Qadeer to Pakistan from Netherland, so that is why what is fair is fair.
He divided Pakistan, but the part he kept for himself, he gave us our deterrent. So yes I agree with your comment — even if you are using this sick acronym, which should be wiped from our history as one of the blackest periods.
Only way to make things fair in today’s Pakistan is to make around 100 administrative units based on population — each administrative unit of equal population size– no need for provinces, these are redundant remnants of Raj times, units which were created on ethnic and lingual basis to keep the local population fighting and at each other’s throats so the British could continue to rule over us.
What Pakistan needs is unity and the way to achieve unity is to treat everyone fairly — if you earn 1 rupee in Karachi you should pay same tax as 1 rupee in Muzaffarabad or Matli, or chiniot or chitral or pasni.
If you pay 1 rupee of tax, you are entitled to same benefits in any part of the country . . .when Fairness will prevail, everything will be fine.
“A system of governance of Kuffar can survive, but not of unfairness. . .” Guess who said that?

        • ZAB

That’s what i was saying that if fears of small provinces are addressed and current distribution is made fairly then who would not want new dams? Who doesn’t want prosperity of country?
And ZAB isn’t Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, it’s my own name’s initials. Secondly before idhar hum udhar tum u shouldn’t forget how bengalis were treated as 3rd category citizens. So they had to eventually apart regardless of that slogan. And now again you see the unjust distribution of funds and resources in the country n who’s dividing nation and who gave slogan of “Jaag Punjabi Jaag”.
