Xiaomi’s Mi 6 is a Top Tier Flagship at Half the Price

Xiaomi has just unveiled its flagship for 2017, the Mi 6, at an event held in Beijing, China.

This time around, Xiaomi has focused on emphasizing the design and build of the Mi 6. It features a glass front and back with a steel frame in between them with some special polish on it, which Xiaomi claims takes up to 12 days and 40 processes to finish.

As for the display, the Mi 6 features a 5.15-inch IPS LCD display with a 1080p resolution which is around 428ppi. Xiaomi says that in real-world scenarios, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the Mi 6 and any other higher resolution screen on the market. The lower resolution of the Mi 6 will also supposedly help it achieve extraordinary battery life. The fingerprint scanner is also under-glass on the front.

And yes, the rumors were true, the headphone jack has indeed been removed from the Mi 6. The Mi 6 does however integrate dual front firing stereo speakers, a first for any Xiaomi smarthphone.

One of the biggest highlighted features in the event was that the Mi 6 comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor (with a 10nm architecture) and clocks in at 2.45GHz. Graphics will be handled by an Adreno 540 and it has 6GB of LPDD4 RAM.

With such impressive specifications, Xiaomi claims that the Mi 6 was able to beat the iPhone 7 Plus in terms of graphics and the Galaxy S8 in AnTuTu benchmarks.

Keeping up with other flagships in the industry, the Mi 6 also introduces dual-cameras. They are both of 12MP where one of them is a wide-angle lens and the other is telephoto. Xiaomi has added 4-phase optical image stabilization for its wide-angle 12MP camera. It also features phase detection autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash. The front camera is a standard 8MP shooter with 2160p recording.

Finally, the Mi 6 comes with a 3,350mAh battery which supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0. On the software side of things, It will be running Android 7.1 with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 on top of it.
