Samsung Announces the J7 Pro and J7 Max

Samsung has unveiled two high mid-range phones in its traditionally budget-minded J series. The two phones, J7 Pro and J7 Max, feature large displays and enough oomph to be formidable in the mid-range category.

The standout feature here should be the new Social Camera app, which allows quick sharing of photos to your closest contacts in social media, apart from offering AR and conventional filters. The J7 Pro and J7 Max also bring Samsung Pay further down the chain.

Design and Display

Samsung J7 Pro

The J7 Pro comes with a 5.5″ Super AMOLED display on the front with 1080p resolution.

The design is metal based and it’s available in black and gold colors.

Samsung J7 Max

J7 Max on the other hand features a larger 5.7-inch display, albeit an LCD one, with full HD resolution. The design is pretty much the same as its smaller sibling.

Internals and Storage

For the J7 Pro, you get an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7870 processor, with 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. Expandable storage is supported via a microSD card slot.

The J7 Max has an octa-core processor of MediaTek Helio P20 build. You get 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage, expandable via a microSD card slot.

Both of the phones support Android Pay and come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Camera and Battery

Samsung J7 Pro and Max feature the same camera setup.

The primary and front cameras sport 13 MP resolution each. The two phones also include an LED flash next to the front camera as well. The two have f/1.9 and f/1.7 apertures, respectively.

J7 Pro uses a large 3600 mAh battery. It will be available for $330.

As for the J7 Max, the battery unit is smaller at 3300 mAh. The phone starts at a lower $280 price point.
