Lenovo has a reputation for introducing fascinating devices with features. This time the Chinese tech giant has come up with an awe-inspiring concept device – Lenovo Folio.
The device is basically a tablet with a bendable screen, which was introduced by Lenovo at the third annual Lenovo Tech World. Guess what? It can be folded in half transforming into a full fledged phone. Mind-blowing, isn’t it?
It is as impressive as anything, but before you think any further, know this that the all-new tablet is a concept device. What does this mean, you may ask? Well, it is very likely that it may not be available as a consumer product in the markets in the near future. Knowing Lenovo’s past releases, we won’t be surprised if the device makes its way to the public within a a year or two.
The device has the following features:
- 7.8-inch screen with 1,920 x 1,440 resolution
- A Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor
- Android 7.0 Nougat
- 5.5-inch phone after folding
- Automatically adjustable UI
Not exactly what you were expecting, right? But, anyone would buy this for the bendable screen since you can simply unfold it for large screen uses.

The Progress of Other Big Names
Oppo and Samsung have also been working on a foldable tablet-phone for a few years now. Samsung’s foldable tablet named Galaxy X is allegedly scheduled to launch by the end of 2017, however, the tech-giant is facing production issues which have delayed the launch till 2019.
Whether you think of it as a foldable tablet that folds into a phone or a phone that opens to a tablet, Lenovo Folio works either way. The tablet market is on a decline with people opting for larger phones, but this may be the come-back tablet not just for Lenovo but for all tablet producing companies.
Of course, all of it depends on public interest and potential consumer base. For now, all we can do is hope. Let’s see how it goes and if it sees a public release.
