PIA Adds Another Boeing 777 For Its Fleet, Four A320s to Follow with-in a Week

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) inducted another wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft into its fleet yesterday.

This new aircraft landed at Karachi Airport on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

PIA’s  acting CEO Nayyer Hayat and other senior members of management and flight operations welcomed the new Boeing 777.

PIA will add 4 more aircraft till the first week of August.

PIA Spokesperson Mashood Tajwar confirmed that the Boeing 777 arrived at Karachi and will be able to fly in a few days after getting through the necessary technical checks and regulatory approvals.

Sources say that this new Boeing aircraft was made in 2009 and was used by different airlines.

PIA bought this aircraft from the Macquarie Aircraft Leasing Company for the next 6 years. Before leasing this Boeing 777 to PIA, this aircraft was in use by Air Austral of France.

“PIA added this Boeing 777 for long term basis, and this aircraft will provide the National Flag carrier with more operational flexibility.”

In the next few days 4 more aircrafts will be added to the PIA fleet. One more Boeing 777 and 3 airbus A-320 are expected to join PIA’s fleet.

Talking exclusively with ProPakistani, Mashood Tajwar said that these 4 aircraft were obtained on wet lease and will provide support during Hajj operations.
