Careem has slashed their rates in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The company has reduced its fares by 16% which means you can now travel around for as low as Rs. 100. The price cuts are applicable for GO car plans only.
The decision is expected to drive up competition between Careem and its rival Uber in the twin cities.
Now, initial charges are Rs. 100, moving charges are Rs. 11 per km and waiting charges are Rs. 280 per hour. Despite the price cut though, Lahore and Karachi still enjoy cheaper fares.
Here are some examples of how much those price cuts will affect some common routes:
- From Centaurus Mall to PWD
- Before: Rs. 20 per km
- After: Rs. 17 per km
- From Bahria Town to Saddar
- Before: Rs. 29 per km
- After: Rs. 24 per km
- From F-11 to Airport
- Before: Rs. 31 per km
- After: Rs. 26 per km
- From Satellite Town to Blue Area
- Before: Rs. 32 per km
- After: Rs. 27 per km
With Uber seemingly having no intention to eliminate its deeply discounted rates in the twin cities, Careem’s hand may have been forced in this particular instance. Previously the company also started offering life insurance for its captains and riders in case of any accident.
