7 Pakistani Universities Become Part of CPEC Consortium of Business Schools

A two-day conference was held at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) by The Higher Commission (HEC) to announce the launch of “CPEC Consortium of Business Schools”.

According to the reports, the conference was held to initiate academic collaboration between Pakistan and China. The chief guest at the closing ceremony was the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal as well as China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) President Du Yubo. HEC Executive Director, Dr Arshad Ali and CPEC consultant Lt. Gen (retd) Muhammad Asghar also attended the conference.

Representatives from China’s nine top ranking universities, including seven members of the C9 League and an alliance of nine elite universities in mainland China were also present at the conference.

“China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a start of a new era in the region”, said Ahsan Iqbal.

The main goal of launching the Consortium is to bring together business school leaders on a single platform. It will also contribute in resolving the issues of economics and management. The business schools will be allotted new projects to support the two governments in working for development and operation of CPEC.

Participants

The Consortium is comprised of Chinese institutes including Fudan University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanjing University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China and Zhejiang University.

The following universities and institutes from Pakistan are part of the consortium: Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Institute of Business Management Sciences (IMS), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) and University of the Punjab.

  • COMSATS, NUST and PIDE are not business schools, don’t know about IMS and BUITEMS, LUMS and IBA are the only relevant institutes, also if there is anything related to IT then COMSATS and NUST are good choices but what the hell are the other universities doing in this list?
