“Secure Sea and Prosperous Pakistan” Maritime Workshop Concludes

The first round of a maritime security workshop named “Secure Sea and Prosperous Pakistan” was concluded in Karachi yesterday.

The aim of of the maritime security workshop was to spread awareness about marine economy and sea related national security concerns as well as to enhance awareness about Pakistan’s maritime resources.

During the week long workshop, seminars were conducted in which several research papers were presented. Debates and group discussions were conducted in which many prominent maritime experts highlighted the importance of sea and maritime resources.

Former chief of Naval Staff Admiral R  Asif Sandala and other senior present and retired Naval officers addressed these events.

While specking to the workshop, commandant of Naval war college, Rear Admiral Mozzam Ilyas, said that maritime security will safeguard the nation against the attack of state and non state actors.

“Pakistan coastline is located near to Strait of Hormuz. It’s one of the world’s most important and strategic trade routes. 30 percent of international oil trade is conducted through this region. It is our responsibility to keep eye on the regional maritime situation” Mozzam added.

He said that the Gwadar port is a very important base for national economy especially for the province of Baluchistan.

In the second phase of workshop, participants visited the different naval installations.
