Aftab Sultan Will Be New Chairman of NAB: Sources

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) have joined hands to appoint chief of Intelligence Bureau (IB), Aftab Sultan, as the new Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), claim reliable sources.

Sources told ProPakistani that both parties are willing to appoint Sultan as a replacement for Chaudhry Qamar Zaman. Sultan visited London a few days ago and met with Nawaz Sharif.

During the meeting, Sultan briefed Nawaz about activities of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and different contacts of Muslim League’s Members of National Assembly (MNAs), claim the sources.

Experts claim that Former PM has given a green signal in this regard to keep NAB in the hands while PPP and PMLN are in close coordination for this arrangement.

PPP and PMLN are trying to appoint Aftab Sultan before PTI and MQM take the slot of opposition leader of National Assembly from PPP by nominating a candidate to replace Syed Khurshid Shah.

Sources added that PMLN wants to clear its way against the cases in accountability courts by appointing an IB chief as supremo of NAB. On the other hand, PTI has also contacted PMLQ to dash the hopes of PMLN on ground.

It is suggested that the government wants to keep Khurshid Shah as opposition leader so that it can appoint Chairman NAB according to its own wishes while PTI wants to change the opposition leader so that a transparent Chairman of NAB could be appointed.

Sources said that Aftab Sultan is considered to be a close aide of the Sharif family.

  • Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) have joined hands.. excellent, its time democracy (votes of peoples of Pakistan) should be respected and they should be the one to appoint to head of states and head of organization.

    • they should do what they should do, but not with a malifde . everyone knows why this is happening. May Allah be with us.

  • Why politicians are allowed to choose personnels for their accountability. I think courts should choose them. No?
