Govt to Treat Electricity Overbilling as a Crime

Reacting to a calling consideration in the National Assembly on Tuesday, the Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said that another law will be established soon to pronounce electricity overbilling as a crime.

“I will share insights about wrong charging and other related issues in the following session,” the minister stated, including all issues in power distribution companies need to be addressed.

He recognized that there are real inefficiencies in the power distribution organizations which should be addressed. The power minister said that over the course of four years, the legislature concentrated on upgrading power generation capacity due to which blackouts have decreased to a great extent.

He said that in the following couple of months, supply will exceed the demand. Overbilling and power pilferage are one of the significant issues in the power area and these will be handled to give relief to the common man.

PIA Missing Airplane

Other issues were also examined in the National Assembly and on one event, responding to a question, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad, said that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is investigating the matter of using a PIA plane in a film made in Malta wherein the struggle of Palestinians was negatively portrayed.

He educated the House that the PIA Airbus A310 was leased to an English film making company for which the national flag carrier received over Rs. 20 Million. FIA was ordered to present its report within a month prior to the important standing board of trustees.

He said that Pakistan has constantly upheld the Palestinian cause and this episode has humiliated us. The issue ought to be analyzed in a comprehensive way, whether the agreement marked with the British organization shared the reason and details of the film for which the plane will be used. He said strict action should be taken against the accused.

Human Organ Donation Bill

The House likewise passed The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Revision) Bill, 2017. The bill was moved by Kishwer Zehra. The resolution claims to make an arrangement to provide human organs or tissues to the victim in case of an accidental death.

Nankana Sahib University

The administration was also asked to find a way to set up Baba Master Nanak Sahib International University at Nankana Sahib.

In addition to this, a bill was also passed that asked the government to find a way to manage the publicity of Balochistan energetically at the international forum.
