Pakistan Army Makes Us Proud by Winning the Hardest Patrolling Competition in the World

Last Friday, a Pakistan army team participated and won gold in UK’s Exercise Cambrian Patrol, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The said competition, described as “one of the toughest patrolling test for military personnel”, saw Pakistan emerge victorious among 131 competitors.

The Cambrian Patrol is one of the most physically exhausting exercises in the world. It is held in a rugged mountainous region of Wales, UK.

Proper coordination and teamwork are two key features of completing the exercise. Other than being a technical challenge, the competition also tests a soldier’s leadership skills, courage, discipline, and determination.

This annual competition is organized by the 160th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Wales of British Army. It comprises of teams from about 140 countries in a physically challenging exercise which includes covering an 80-km course on foot carrying an average of 30kg and completing the distance in 48 hours.

The competition was initiated in 1959, by the Welsh Territorial Army Soldiers, as a weekend training program which involved a long-distance march over the Cambrian mountains and ended with a shooting competition at the Sennybridge training ground.

Pakistan saw its fourth win in this exercise, defending the title from last year as well.
