First in Lahore, then Multan and now in Gujranwala, more than 100 motorbike ambulances will be running on the city’s roads soon.
The inauguration ceremony for the launch of motorbike ambulance service in Gujranwala was held on Saturday and was attended by Provincial Minister and other key figures such as Deputy Commissioner and District Council Chairman.
Mansha Ullah Butt, while addressing at the ceremony, said that the main purpose of this is to provide immediate aid to densely populated areas where a regular ambulance is not easily accessible.
He also mentioned that it is a revolutionary act which would provide immediate medical service to the public.
Rescue 1122 DG, Dr Rizwan Nasir, also briefed the provincial minister about emergency facilities in the motorbike ambulance.
The motorbikes are fully equipped with a foldable stretcher, trauma kits, burn kits, automatic external defibrillators, portable oxygen, pulse odometer and glucose meter.
In October 2017, this motorbike ambulance service was first launched in Lahore and inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and was later launched in Multan as well.
According to the Chief Minister, the motorbike ambulance services is first-of-its-kind in South Asia.
During the inauguration in Lahore, the Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated the cooperation of Turkey, also told that the next batch of nurses and rescuers would be sent for training to Turkey.
He assured that Punjab Government would make further progress for the betterment of the people of Punjab for health care services.
Turkey’s universal health insurance scheme is to start soon in Punjab as well. He further ordered to take effective and necessary measures to improve the standard of medical facilities in emergencies of the tehsil and district headquarters hospital without wasting a second.
Rescue 1122 also conducted a flag march on motorbike ambulances in Gujranwala.
