Door to Door Voter Verification Process to Start from December 15

According to sources from District Election Commissioner Rawalpindi, all the arrangements have been finalized to complete the voter verification campaign within a prescribed time frame across the district.

They informed that at present, total registered voters in Rawalpindi district are 29,47,715 including 15,73,117 male and 13,74,598 female. 29 Assistant Registration Officers and 2,221 verification officers have been assigned the verification task expected to be completed by January 7, 2018.

The sources informed that after completion of the first phase, the voters’ verified lists would be displayed at 199 display centers set up at prominent places in the district between January 8 to February 6. The objections on the voter lists could be submitted during January 8 to February 16 while the final lists would be displayed on April 10 in the office of District Election Commissioner.

The lists would be verified after checking NADRA issued ID cards of the voters. The names of the deceased would be deleted from the lists during the process while new entries would be on the permanent or temporary residence addresses basis printed on the ID Cards.

Nearly 2.6 million registered voters were listed during 2013 general elections which have crossed the 2.9 million mark by now, the sources added. It is expected that the voters of the district would be more than three million after verification process and registration of new voters completes before the 2018 general elections.
