Cook Like A Pro: This Street Smart Chaat Recipe is Sure to Make Your Stomach Growl

Ingredients


Chickpeas

  • Pre-boiled chickpeas 2 cups
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 big onion finely chopped
  • Red crushed chili 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • Coriander 1 bunch finely chopped
  • Mint 1/2 bunch finely chopped

Red Beans

  • Red beans 2 cups
  • Red crushed chili 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • Small Chopped onion
  • Chat masala 1 tbsp

Dahi Phulki

  • Fitters
  • Gram flour 1 cup
  • Baking powder dash
  • Black cumin 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1/2 tbsp
  • 1 green chili finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped onion

Dahi

  • Yoghurt 1 kg
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • Chat masala 1 tbsp

Tamarind Sauce

  • 1 cup tamarind
  • Red crushed chili 2 tbsp
  • Sugar 5 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • 2 cup water

Bread

  • 2 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt 1/2 tbsp
  • Baking powder dash

Potato

  • 4 boiled potatoes mashed
  • Red crushed chili tbsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • 1 big onion finely chopped
  • 1 bunch coriander chopped
  • 1/2 bunch mint chopped
  • 2 green chilies finely chopped
  • Whole coriander 1 tbsp
  • Cumin 1 tbsp
  • Cabbage shredded 1 cup
  • Carrot shredded 1 cup

Cooking Method


Chickpeas

  • Mix the above ingredients together and set aside

Red Beans

  • Mix the above ingredients together and set aside

Fitters

  • Mix all the above ingredients and fry the batter until light brown

Dahi Phulki

  • Beat curd and mix everything well. Add in the fitters to the prepared yogurt (dahi)

Tamarind Sauce

  • Wash tamarinds and add water and all ingredients in a saucepan
  • Cook for at least an hour on slow a flame
  • Strain mixture and remove seeds from the colander/ strainer and add the pulp back in the strained mixture
  • Blend mixture with pulp and set aside

Bread

  • Mix all ingredients, knead the dough well; let it rest for 30 minutes
  • Then roll dough out very thinly and place in pre-greased bowls/ pans and bake for 10-15 minutes

Note: you can also substitute the bread with 2-3 layers of pre-made samosa strips in each mold.

Potatoes

  • Mix all the ingredients well and set aside and set aside

Assembling


  • Take Dahi Phulki and place in the bread shell
  • Then add potatoes, chickpeas, red beans, tamarinds sauce, and shredded vegetables
  • Serve
