Vivo X21 & X21 UD are Premium Midrangers With Bezel-less Screens

Vivo is back with another mid-range phone, with an under-display fingerprint sensor. It comes with the necessary bells and whistles like dual cameras, a tall “bezel-less” screen and more. Just know that you’ll pay quite a premium for this device.

The under-display fingerprint sensor (UD) version of the X21, is called the X21 UD and comes with a higher price tag.

Design and Display

The design is what you’d expect from any good phone today. It is available in White, Red, and Black. (The UD version is only available in Black and Red.)

The display is a large 6.28” AMOLED panel at the front, with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 2280 x 1080 resolution.

The notch at the top is the most noticeable thing about the design, being a textbook example of a Chinese iPhone X.

Vivo X21’s non-UD variant comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Internals and Storage

Under the hood, you’ll find Qualcomm’s best mid-range processor, Snapdragon 660, with Adreno 512 graphics, 6 GB RAM, and either 64 or 128 GB storage. (The UD variant comes with 128 GB storage only).

Storage is also expandable via a hybrid dual-SIM slot. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, customized with FunTouch OS 4.0 (which won’t win any accolades for its name, at least).

Camera(s)

The camera at the back is a dual-lens setup, with a 12 MP f/1.8 and a 5 MP f/2.4 camera, likely for the bokeh and portrait modes.

The camera on the front is a 12 MP sensor which comes with IR lens for Face Wake 2.0 feature. Another feature imitating the face unlock from the likes of Samsung and Apple.

Battery and Price

The battery capacity is set at 3200 mAh, with fast-charging.

Pricing of the phone is set at around $450 and $500 for the 64 and 128 GB versions respectively, for the non-UD versions. The 128 GB UD version will set you back by $570, which is dangerously close to flagship territory.
