Samsung’s next big flagship, the Galaxy Note 9, may come much earlier than you would expect. A Korean news outlet claims that Samsung will launch the Note 9 as early as July or August this year.
Last year, the Galaxy Note 8 was announced on August 23rd and was available to purchase by September.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note line consists of premium phablets, featuring top-tier hardware and a unique stylus, the S-pen. Samsung usually launches a Note device after introducing a Galaxy S device and sometimes, with better hardware than the latter.
According to market experts, Samsung has scheduled to start OLED display production in April – they usually do this in June which indicates that Samsung plans on completing the production-cycle of Note 9 phablets two months earlier.
“Less Than Stellar” S9/S9+ Sales
So why would Samsung want to launch Note 9 early? One of the possible reasons is to make up for their poorer-than-usual Galaxy S9/S9+ sales. According to a report, the sales have been “less than stellar” and much less than what Samsung manages each year.

Another probability could be to compete with Apple. If Samsung launches their flagship earlier, they will be able to secure more sales well in advance before the new iPhone launches. Apple’s iPhone XÂ was not available for purchase until November which more or less helped Note 8’s sales.
No In-Screen Fingerprint Sensor
The Investor –Â the Korean news outlet – also says that the Note 9 will not have a fingerprint sensor on it’s screen. Most of us would expect Samsung to bring this technology, however, they will hold it off until 2019.
Huawei has managed to make a sale-able smartphone, the Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS which has this technology. Vivo, too, introduced the in-screen fingerprint sensor equipped Vivo Apex a month ago which is still in early prototype stage.
For now, nothing can be said for sure and Samsung might decide to include an on-screen fingerprint sensor later on. Samsung has decided to remain silent and has not responded to any queries related to this speculation.
