Meizu M6T With 18:9 Screen & Dual Cameras Takes on Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Meizu has launched another cheap midranger, the Meizu M6T, for the Chinese market. It has an 18:9 tall display and impressive dual cameras. The company’s smartphones have always been vibrant, and usually feature a unique design. Same goes to the M6T, it’s a good-looking device that has been launched a few days after the company launched the Meizu M8c.

Let’s see what it has to offer,

Design & Display

As you’d expect from a device in this segment, the M6T features a generic plastic finish with fairly trimmed bezels on the front. There’s a small vertical array on the rear, for the cameras, right above the circular fingerprint sensor. Flashlight placement is rather odd, as it sits above the sensors this time.

Its display sports an HD+ (720 x 1440) resolution at a 5.7-inch diagonal measurement, with an LCD panel. It’s a tall display, featuring an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Hardware & Storage

Much like most Meizu phones, you get a Mediatek SoC under the hood, the MT6750 to be exact with an Octa-core (4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.0 GHz Cortex-A53) setting. It pairs with either 3 or 4 GB of RAM.

Internal storage also comes in two options, you can get the 32 GB internal storage version with both 3 or 4 GB RAM while the 64 GB version only comes with 4 GB RAM. Luckily, the storage is expandable by up to 128 GB via microSD (uses SIM slot 2).

Camera & Software

Meizu M6T houses a dual-cam set up consisting of a primary 13 MP unit, f/2.2 aperture, and a depth sensing 2 MP f/2.4 secondary sensor. The 2 MP unit is used to help take better bokeh photos. Selfie camera can shoot up to 8 MP and has an aperture rating of f/2.0. It does have face unlock.

It will come with Android Nougat, running Meizu’s UI. It comes with a host of features, such as Meizu’s mBack that lets you control the UI using touch gestures on the fingerprint sensor.

Battery, Price, & Availability

It comes with a 3300 mAh non removable battery chargeable via microUSB 2.0. There’s no fast charging.

It comes in three color options of Black, Champagne Gold, and Coral Red and in three different price groups – CNY 799 (~Rs. 15,000) for 3/32 GB, CNY 999 (~Rs. 18,500) for 4/32 GB, and finally CNY 1,099 (~Rs. 20,000) for the higher-end 4/64 GB version.

It has been officially launched in China, there’s no word on when it will hit the international market.
