Microsoft’s iconic “Notepad” app is getting its first actual update in years. The new notepad will appear in the update codenamed “Redstone 5” and is expected to roll out later this year.
Notepad won’t be getting any major design and feature overhaul; instead, the app is going to add a few little tweaks here and there to enhance user experience, for those who use notepad for development, logs, or simply writing down any sort of text on their PCs.
Redstone 5 has a lot of other improvements to a host of apps in build 17713, including Remote Desktop with biometric support, Web Login for Windows 10, and Microsoft Edge improvements. Microsoft is now putting the finishing touches on the next major Windows 10 update, but it won’t include the popular “Sets” feature for File Explorer and other apps.
While Windows 10 Build 17713 is not available to the public yet, Insiders who are subscribed to receive the “Fast Ring” of updates can download it right now.
