Pakistani weightlifter — Nooh Dastgir Butt — has won the gold medal at World Junior Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 20-year-old weightlifter recently returned to the country and is already thinking bigger for his next event.
Nooh Dastgir won the gold in the clean and jerk session where he lifted 399 kilos in total. His achievement is all the more remarkable when we consider the fact how little support is provided to weightlifters in Pakistan.
Achievements
Despite his young age, Nooh has already made a name for himself in the weightlifting world. The athlete previously won a gold at Commonwealth Youth Championship that was held locally. He also made headlines when he grabbed a bronze medal by lifting 171 kg at Commonwealth Games in Australia.
