Officers from the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested two men from Islamabad International Airport as they attempted to smuggle drugs.
The men were arrested and 3,700 kilograms of ice-heroin were seized from their possession as well. The individuals tried to fly to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia through flight XY-316 from a private airline.
The police have charged both men with attempting to smuggle drugs.
The isn’t the first case of its kind where smugglers were caught at the airport trying to carry drugs.
In a recent case, the ANF arrested an individual at the Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar after he was caught smuggling 1.46 kilograms of drugs. The individual named Abdul Rahman used toffee packets to smuggle his wares to Sharjah.

In yet another case, several employees of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) were held by the British authorities after drugs were found in a PIA plane in England. As much as 13 PIA employees including engineers and supervisors were removed from their position after the incident.
The smuggling and selling of drugs aren’t limited to the airports only as criminals increasingly look towards hi-tech methods. A few years back, two Pakistani men were arrested by the London Metropolitan Police Service Fugitive Squad for selling drugs online. The men in question shipped illegal drugs from Karachi and the United Kingdom to the United States via the dark web.
