Islamabad and Rawalpindi in Chaos Due to Heavy Rains

A Rain Emergency has been declared by the authorities for the twin cities due to continuous rainfall since late Monday night.

An estimate of 202 milliliters of rainfall was recorded in Rawalpindi. In Islamabad, about 162 milliliters of rain was recorded.

The authorities have decided to take precautionary measures as the water level rose to 11ft in Nullah Lai. The authorities have issued a red alert to Civil Defence, Rescue 1122, WASA and other departments for any rain-related emergencies.

Given the continuous heavy downpour, citizens are facing difficulties due to submerged roads and flooded streets, making it nearly impossible for the people to carry out their routines.

Several areas in Rawalpindi such as Sadiqabad, Shamsabad, Committee Chowk and Javed Colony have been flooded. The rainwater even made its way inside the houses causing immense trouble for the citizens.

While one of the twin cities face serious flood issues, the other plunged into darkness with more than 70 feeders tripping in the federal capital.
