British Council Inaugurates Digital Library Wall in Abbotabad

The British Council, Pakistan has set up its digital library wall at Tech Valley Abbottabad and Sir. Hugh Catchpole Library at Abbottabad Public School.

The launch ceremony was held at Tech Valley Abbottabad on Tuesday, 31st July, 2018 which was attended by Rosemary Hilhorst – Country Director, British Council Pakistan.

This Digital Library can allow remote access to the content. The British Council Digital Library Wall is a collection of documents – such as podcasts, books, and reports – organized in an electronic form and available on the Internet or on a digital support.

This Digital Library wall will serve as a hub for the continuing efforts to create educational opportunities, knowledge sharing and fostering a learning environment where creativity and innovation are valued. It will really help to build the capacity of teachers, students, youth, entrepreneurs and innovators which is also one of the primary goals of Tech Valley Abbottabad.

Ms. Rosemary Hilhorst said, “I wish to see more tech valleys across Pakistan to expand the momentum, energy, innovation, and empowerment of community.

Further, she added that the collaboration of British Council with Tech Valley in different domains, such as IELTS Exams, Teachers Training, Digital Training, and English Language programs will support Tech Valley in achieving its vision. Ms. Hilhorst has assured the continuous support of the British Council in opening more doors even in the Tourism sector to Tech Valley as they are the only tourism incubator in the region.

“We warmly welcome British Council in Abbottabad and appreciate their investment and time for continuous cultural development of Pakistan. This is indeed a landmark in the history of Abbottabad where people will get an opportunity to learn, connect and innovate,”  – Abbas Khan Marwat, Director Tech Valley Abbottabad.

He further added,” this is a fantastic step towards building Abbottabad a tech-savvy city and I thank the British Council for their continuous support in building greater cultural ties between two countries and particularly focusing on small towns where such steps are much needed. Tech Valley as Platinum partner of British Council Pakistan is thankful for this digital innovation at their doorstep”.

He further thanked the media for covering this mega event in the city of pines—Abbottabad. We are trying to bring digital innovation around town for the local community for which we need support from organizations like the British Council.
