Xiaomi to Launch a High End Phone at a Budget Price This Month

Xiaomi is finally returning to its roots, making a high-end phone worth around $300 (CNY 1,999).

The latest news points towards Xiaomi releasing another $300 smartphone sometime this month (mid-September), with no specific date announced yet.

Here’s the post on Weibo:

Mi Mix 3

Also, Xiaomi also clarified that we might see the Mi Mix 3 in October. Company CEO Lei Jun said that the Xiaomi will enter mass production by the end of October, aiming for large-scale sales.

However, it’s unlikely that Mi Mix 3 will cost CNY 1,999 as the phone has traditionally been the end-all-be-all of Xiaomi phones.

It’ll likely feature a Snapdragon 845 processor, with a sliding camera module (like the Oppo Find X) as teased by the company president.

Rumors point towards a new Mi-series phone instead, likely something between the Mi 8 SE and the regular Mi 8 priced at CNY 1,799 and CNY 2,699 respectively, leaving ample space for a new flagship.

PocoPhone Rival?

Their previously announced PocoPhone F1 cuts back on the “flagship” level in terms of design, which doesn’t compare well with the other top of the line smartphones in the market. It does come with a Snapdragon 845 processor, complete with Mi 8’s dual cameras and a big 4,000 mAh battery.

It’s only a matter of time until we see the phone in Pakistan, as confirmed by the company earlier.
