Xiaomi may have a new rival in the smart home products category. Apart from a litany of laptops that Lenovo announced at the IFA 2018, there were also a few smart devices that understandably got a much lower level of recognition. Still, your trusty friends here are ready to give them the love they deserve.
The lineup includes a smart bulb, a smart plug, and a security camera. They’ll complement Lenovo’s Assistant-touting Smart Display if you happen to own one. Otherwise, the company’s Link app may suffice for standalone owners.
The Smart Bulb comes with a series of temperature/brightness adjustments and remote controlling of lightning variation from elsewhere. You can schedule the lighting intensity based on the time of day as well. It is priced quite attractively at $30, boasting up to 15,000 hours of life and voice control, which means it’ll be an impulse purchase for a lot of people.
The next in line is the smart plug, easily the simplest of the lot. It too can be used to control a device remotely from elsewhere, or through voice commands. It is priced similarly at $30, which seems a bit too high for a plug.
Night Vision Camera
Last in line is the new security camera, which is likely aimed for indoor usage. It can be used for remotely checking into your house, supports motion detection, as well as night vision for low-lighting conditions thanks to infrared support for viewing as far as 20m.
It’ll be priced the highest at $100. The smart bulb and plug will be available in the US from November this year, while the security camera will be released sometime next year.
