Sohail Tanvir Has Officially Become One of the Most Successful T20 Bowlers

Pakistani left-arm medium pacer, Sohail Tanvir has entered the 300+ wickets club in T20 cricket, becoming only the 6th bowler to do so. His tally now stands at 301 wickets.

Tanvir achieved the feat in the 1st Qualifier of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors against Trinbago Knight Riders. He picked 2 wickets to cross the 300-mark while also hitting a six off the penultimate ball of the last over to help his team qualify for the final of the event.

The wrong-footed bowler follows the footprints of former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi who also has 301 wickets in T20 cricket.

The elite club of players includes two West Indians; Sunil Narine and Dwayne Bravo, two Pakistanis; Shahid Afridi and Sohail Tanvir, a Sri Lankan; Lasith Malinga, and a Bangladeshi; Shakib al Hasan.

  1. Dwayne Bravo – 445 wickets
  2. Lasith Malinga – 351 wickets
  3. Sunil Narine – 339 wickets
  4. Shakib Al Hasan – 313 wickets
  5. Shahid Afridi – 301 wickets
  6. Sohail Tanvir – 301 wickets

Sohail Tanvir is a well-traveled athlete, who is a regular feature in almost all the franchise-based leagues around the world. Not just this, he has a knack of taking crucial wickets in important matches, which is the reason why he is a priority pick in leagues like the CPL, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) etc.

Despite playing only the first edition of the Indian Premier League, Tanvir still holds the record for the best bowling figures ever in the league with 6-14 for his side Rajasthan Royals against the Chennai Super Kings.
