Govt Shuts Down CNG Stations in Sindh for an Indefinite Period

Due to the acute shortage of gas in Sindh, the government has decided to close down all CNG stations in Sindh for an indefinite period of time.

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Tuesday issued a notification in this regard.

The notification mentions that there is a continuous shortage in gas supply from different fields due to which SSGC is facing low pressure and shortage.

“To overcome the problem and to ensure an adequate supply to domestic and commercial sectors, therefore, in compliance with the sectoral priority of order for load management, all CNG station in Sindh, including Karachi will remain closed till further notice,” the notification read.

It should be mentioned here that SSGC has already suspended the gas supply to the industrial captive power units until further notice.

SSGC stated in a notification the reason for the closure being the ‘acute shortage of gas and low pressure in the system’ due to which the supply to domestic and commercial sectors is impacted.
