Punjab Govt Releases Rs. 3.5 Billion Workers Welfare Fund

Ansar Majeed Khan, Punjab Minister for Labor and Human Resources has released Rs 3.5 billion as workers welfare fund on behalf of Punjab government in a ceremony held on Monday 21 January 2019.

The minister distributed cheques worth Rs. 21 million including 11 death grants, 77 marriage funds, and 185 scholarships as a part of the new government’s labor policy which was one of the bigger challenges of the 100 days agenda.

Ansar Majeed vowed to solve all the pending issues of the laborers in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, calling the step a big achievement of the government. He further said that the release of Rs 3.5 billion is the Punjab government’s new year gift for the workers.

He also bashed the previous governments for not releasing the workers’ welfare fund even after the 18th amendment, calling it sheer injustice. Ensuring timely wages, making social security cards more powerful than the identity cards and solving all the pending issues of Punjab’s laborers are the next priorities of the Punjab government as per Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s vision.
