Redmi X Could be the First Midranger with an In-Display Fingerprint Sensor

Xiaomi is expected to launch and showcase several smartphones next month and, naturally, there are a lot of leaks surrounding what these devices could be.

The Chinese smartphone maker has recently launched the Redmi Note 7 and it is rumored that they are also bringing Pro version of it along with the flagship, Mi 9.

However, a new leak suggests that another phone could also be in the works, dubbed the Redmi X.

Redmi X

The Redmi X name was first expected to be used when the Redmi Note 7 launched, but that didn’t happen. Now, with new rumors of the Redmi X, it looks like Xiaomi is finally planning to launch the mysterious device.

According to a blog, playfuldroid, a poster has leaked revealing that the Redmi X is expected to come with an in-display fingerprint scanner and the alleged launch date is 15th February.

It should be noted, however, that this is not an official poster from Xiaomi so it’s best to take this news with a grain of salt.

The info mentioned in the poster is in line with some of the rumors of the Redmi X and the time period of when it’s supposed to launch. The poster doesn’t reveal too much about the Redmi X but the in-display fingerprint scanner is big news. This is because this will be the first ever mid-range phone (Redmi series has mid-range and budget phones) to feature an in-display fingerprint reader.

What to expect from the Redmi X?

The Redmi X is rumored to feature a waterdrop notch display on the front with an FHD+ resolution display and an OLED panel.

As far as the specification are concerned, keeping in line with the rest of mid-rangers, the Redmi X is expected to come with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 or a 710 processor and 4GB RAM, with memory configurations of either 64GB or 128GB.

Perhaps more importantly, the Redmi X will be using the same 48-megapixel camera found in the Redmi Note 7 and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
