100,000 New Taxpayers Have Filed Returns for the First Time in FY2018-19

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has revealed that more than 100,000 new taxpayers have been added to tax net during the current fiscal year. The FBR authorities made this revelation on Monday.

According to the data provided by the FBR, 1.179 million tax returns were filed in first seven months of the fiscal year 2017-18. While the tax-collection agency received 1.630 million tax returns in the first seven months of the current fiscal year.

The revenue body further stated that the number of taxpayers in the country is still meager as compared to the population. It also said that necessary measures were being taken in this regard.

The authorities further said that the new policies of the government are expected to bring more taxpayers under the tax net and hoped that the number will increase by the end of the current fiscal year.
