Prime Minister Imran Khan has inaugurated the live-tracking system for Pakistan Railways (PR) along with launching another train route.
While addressing the launching ceremony in Lahore, PM Imran said the tracking system is aimed to help the railways passengers, adding that the railway was the commute of a common man.
The premier lauded the efforts of Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed for the revival of Pakistan Railways and asked him to forward corruption and theft cases in railways to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
On the occasion, he once again highlighted the importance of his austerity drive in economic stability.
“I have asked all ministers to bring down expenditure,” said the Prime Minister.
PM also inaugurated the Thal Express service – which will run from Rawalpindi to Multan through Muzzafargarh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Kundian, and Mianwali. The train will reduce the distance between Multan and Rawalpindi by 3 hours.
Soon after taking charge as the PR Minister, Shiekh Rasheed had announced to upgrade train coaches, launch a Wi-Fi service and a tracking system for trains among other promises.
Time has shown that the minister has lived up to many of his promises including the launch of new trains, increasing PR’s revenue, and now, the start of the live-tracking system.
The system, which starts functioning today, will facilitate the passengers in tracking the current location of the train and its arrival time to their platform with the help of smartphones.
A mobile tracker application will be launched soon which can be used to track both passenger and freight trains.
