The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province in view of the ongoing monsoon season, banning swimming, bathing and boating at several water bodies.
The Home Department issued a formal notification restricting bathing in rainwater collected in open or public places, along with all forms of swimming in dams, rivers, canals, ponds and lakes.
The notification also prohibits unauthorised boating in dams, rivers, canals and distributaries for 60 days.
Authorities said the restrictions aim to protect lives in light of current weather conditions and the risk of accidents. The Home Secretary has directed district administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure strict implementation of the order.
The government has also launched a public awareness campaign to inform citizens about the ban and safety precautions during the monsoon season.
